About I. Christie

I was born January 9, 1948 in Hollywood, California as Christine Irene Rapoza, thus the name I. Christie. My mother is from Paris, France and my father from Fall River, Mass. I've learned neither French or Portuguese.

I finished graduate school with a doctorate in psychology but decided that working on the service desk for IT had more benefits, such as immediate gratification, not having to take my work home with me, retirement plan, medical insurance, dependable hours, regular pay, and just enough socializing to qualify me as not a recluse.

I've studied acupressure, Tai Chi, ChiGun, Korean Karate and Yoga, though not in great depth, meaning I no longer practice them daily. I love most animals and believe all things are sacred, though putting it into practice for some creatures like fleas and cockroaches is not working.

Until writing became my obsession I used to read voraciously, averaging a book every two days, do various types of beadwork, paint, draw in various mediums, embroider, and woodcarve. I was once an avid hiker, camper, biker, jogger and visitor to the local gym. These days I visit the gym a few days a week. I stay off bikes for self preservation, though with the price of gas going up I'll be pumping up the tires. And when it comes to camping, if there's a flush toilet, shower and electricity (that would be in an RV or a hotel) and a place that will allow Sara, I can be pursuaded to go...but I'll be taking my laptop too.

I share my household with Sara, a golden lab/greyhound mix dog; 3 cats, Cleopatra, Cagney and Lacey; 3 parakeets; 2 finches; and whatever the cats drag in.

Do I regret letting my arts and other outdoor activities go by the wayside?  Nope. For now, it suits me fine.

Namaste,

Christie

The meaning of namaste:

I honor the place in you
in which the entire Universe dwells,

I honor the place in you
which is of Love, of Truth, of Light and of Peace,

When you are in that place in you,
and I am in that place in me,
we are One.
